Cooking class

Tuscan cooking, in particular from the area of Chianti, is characterized by simplicity. It is essentially a country cuisine, based above all on the distinctive taste and freshness of its seasoning, such as the uniquely delicious olive oil that happily assumes the place of butter in many recipes

Lorenza de’ Medici

The cooking courses at Badia a Coltibuono, founded by Lorenza de’ Medici in the early 1980s, offer an immersive experience in Tuscan culinary tradition. They take place in the kitchen of the ancient abbey—later transformed into a manor house—surrounded by the lush forests of Chianti. In this evocative setting, participants, guided by the cooks of Badia a Coltibuono, prepare traditional recipes using fresh, seasonal ingredients, including handmade pasta, meats, vegetables, and classic desserts.

The lessons combine theory and practice, with a focus on culinary techniques and food and wine pairings. Continuing a long-standing family tradition, the cooks of Coltibuono take guests on a fascinating journey into the secrets and stories of ancient rural culture—an endless source of inspiration for many traditional Tuscan and Mediterranean dishes, known for their simplicity and the quality of the ingredients used.

Wine and olive oil tastings round out the experience, awakening new sensations and emotions.

The courses are suitable for cooking enthusiasts of all levels.
