Wine Spectator
A unique blend of nine native grape varieties, all grown in the Montebello vineyard at the heart of the Badia a Coltibuono estate in Monti in Chianti. Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Fogliatonda, Malvasia Nera, Pugnitello, Mammolo, Sanforte, Colorino, and Sangiovese all belong to the historic Chianti tradition, when they were cultivated together in mixed vineyards.
After more than a decade of experimentation, in 2011 we developed the idea of a perfectly balanced blend of all nine varieties. Here, Sangiovese, the principal grape of Chianti Classico, plays a supporting rather than a leading role. Each variety is cultivated, harvested, fermented, and aged separately in barriques before the final blend is assembled.

Vinification / Ageing
The grapes are vinified in small fermentation vats using indigenous yeasts, with manual punch-downs throughout fermentation.
Ageing: 20–24 months in barriques, followed by at least six months in large oak casks and a further six months of bottle ageing.

Vintage
A cool spring, with some rainfall in June, was followed by a warm summer balanced by further rains in September. Organic vineyard management contributed to healthy vines and even fruit ripening. Although yields were slightly reduced, fruit quality was outstanding, resulting in wines of excellent balance and structure.

A wine of remarkable strength, finesse, and elegance, born from the harmonious interplay of nine native grape varieties. Its depth, complexity, and balance make it immediately appealing while ensuring excellent ageing potential.

An excellent match for game, roast beef, grilled and braised meats, well-aged cheeses, and dark chocolate.
